Force Adobe Reader to honour my display preferences
Adobe Reader’s page display preferences appear to be only honoured if the PDF’s author chooses Default. It seems that if the document author specifies a particular setting (such as single page), then Adobe Reader ignores the user’s preferences and uses those specified by the author.
There is a workaround (of sorts) that allows the user to enforce their desired preferences – specify the preference in the Accessibility category.
This works in Adobe Reader 9.2 (under Windows 7) and should probably work in other versions too.
- Under the Edit menu, choose Preferences
- In the Categories list on the left hand size, choose Accessibility
- Under “Override Page Display”, check the “Always use Page Layout Style” and/or “Always use Zoom Setting” check boxes, the choose the appropriate values in the associated combo boxes.
