Sorting tasks by name in Outlook 2007

In the simple view of Tasks in Outlook 2007, all columns can be sorted by clicking on the column header, except “Tasks Subject”. Clicking on “Task subject” displays a “You cannot sort by this field” message.

The solution is provided by a post at http://www.office-outlook.com/outlook-forum/index.php/m/213201/

  1. Right-click on a Tasks column header and click “Field chooser” to display the “Field chooser” window.
  2. From the “Field chooser” window, drag “Subject” to the desired column header position.
  3. Drag the “Task subject” column header to the “Field chooser” window.
  4. Close the “Field chooser” window
