Preventing automatic data connection on my Palm Treo 750 (WM6)
I found that ActiveSync that was continuously connecting over my 3G mobile data connection. I only get 20MB/month data, so I’ve had to prevent WM automatically syncing.
This started happening once I had set up a connection to Microsoft My Phone and Google Sync (which emulates an Exchange Server).
This is how I’ve set up my Palm Treo 750 (running Windows Mobile 6):
ActiveSync
Menu | Configure Server
- Server address: m.google.com {using SSL}
- User name: my.name@gmail.com
- Password: MyPassword
- Save password [Checked]
- [Advanced] Conflict: Keep item on my device
- Synchronize: Contacts and Calendar {Tasks are not (yet?) supported by Google}
Menu | Schedule
- Sync during: Manually
- Send/receive when I click send [Unchecked]
Microsoft My Phone
Menu | Sync Schedule
- Frequency: Manual
Incidentally, MS MyPhone is one of the few Windows Mobile applications that has an Exit option (under Menu).
